Back to MIT...........

After a long time I got an opportunity to visit my college. The reason was college friends get together so which place would be better than our MIT college.
I observed that the look and feel of our college was not the same. Lot of new buildings has been constructed in the college as well as around the whole campus. Our College now provides admissions for all courses right from commerce, arts & science new age retail management courses.
Our very own college lawn is the same as before and let me tell you that I recollected all the time spent there. I have lot of memories some sweet some bitter ones with the lawn.
One new and amazing thing I saw is the rotating Globe at the entrance. It looked beautiful but unfortunately I couldn't see it rotating. On our way back home we visited our favorite Hotel Namrata. One good thing to mention is that the owner still remembers us. The hotel the same as before but the satisfaction of sharing one tea between two (called as 'cutting' tea in Indian terms) cannot be compared with anything else. This time for a change we preferred to have cold drink. At the end I felt very emotional as if something was missing in life. In fact I would say that we too have changed with time as my college.

Movie Review: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Latest movie from Walt Disney’s stable. I was waiting for this one from last version of Pirates, i.e. Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man’s chest and it was worth of my wait. Movie starts in Singapore where captain Barbossa and Elizabeth (Keira) seeking help from Singaporean pirate lord captain Sao Feng to bring back Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from the prison of Davy Jones. This duo with help of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) acquires a precious map a Ship and few peoples from Sao to rescue Jack so that he can attain the gathering of all nine lords of pirates to decide upon the future of pirates as East India Company doing their best to curb the pirates. After a fabulous and risky Journey they reaches to an Iceland where they meet with Jack, who initially doesn’t believe that someone has came to rescue him. Before this you will see the most brilliant scene of the movie where thousands of crabs carrying Black Pearl on their back to the sea. Real thrill begins when these peoples restart their journey; the scene of turning the black pearl upside down was wonderful. The story moves on where jacks come to know that one who stub the knife in Davy Jones heart will become captain of Flying Dutchman ship and Jack wishes for the same, but at the end what happens is worth watching on big screen. Won’t disclose more, but I think in spite a little bit slow at start movie takes speed once Jack came’s in picture and will hold your nerve.

Movie review: Shootout at Lokhandwala

I saw this movie on Saturday, Movie based on a true story (rumors) about an encounter of a 6 gangsters by terrorist Squad (ATS) of Mumbai police. This movie is filled with violence shows how and in what circumstances the gangsters were killed and the attempt by ATS to justify their decision. Having a big squad of Bollywood stars; the movie rotates around Sanjay Dutt (Cop) and Vivek Oberoi (Gangster). Amitabh Bacchan is playing a role of lawyer in this film; I came to know this only after 2 hours of movie was finished or just 15 minutes before “THE END”. Probably this is first kind of movie that justifies the need of “encounters” and support police department for that. I would say it is a good directed serious type movie; not a must watch type unless you are a great fan of Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi and Tusshar Kapoor (Well is there any fan of last duo??) or you are fascinated about the Mumbai Underworld, encounters or the movie promos. Well I saw a lot of clapping for Sanjay Dutt & his dialog delivery.

It was nice to see Amruta Singh back on screen; although her entry scene was too much bold & aggressive, she done her part well, I am not a great fan of her, but it is always nice to see veteran’s comeback.

Songs are Ok-Ok, one thing I must say that that while entering in theaters I was humming the Song “E Ganpat” but the effective direction force me to leave the theater speechless thinking about the movie and everything other than the songs.

Dialog of the movie” Accha laga apun ko aap se milake; kam se kam ek to police wala aisa hai jisaki vardi me ab tak MERA BHARAT MAHAN hai”.

Is this the end of Mourinho era at Stamford Bridge?

After a humiliating defeat in penalty shootout from Liverpool, Chelsea is out of Champions League finals this year and future of Jose Mourinho is in real trouble now. The dream of Chelsea owner Roman of bringing Champions League to Stamford Bridge is shattered consecutively third times in a row under Jose Mourinho. This year’s draw was a easiest than last two attempts, as in 2005 against Liverpool; Chelsea wasn't that much strong as Chelsea is today and in 2006 they had to fought against Catalan giants Barca, with Ronaldinho, Etto, Puyol, Deco Barca has real advantage over Chelsea's Drogba, Lampard, Terry and Cole. In premiership also it is now almost impossible for Chelsea to snatch first place from Man U as they are having 5 point lead with better goal difference with only 3 games to go.

The only thing Jose has now is FA Cup, where they have to face rejuvenated & young Red Devils. In spite being a Chelsea and Liverpool fan I can find out a great difference between Chelsea and Man U. first of all the most important thing is missing in this year’s Chelsea compared to last year is passion for win. They seems playing just for making appearance, the fun & entertainment for fans is lost from Chelsea's game.

Jose is a great manager and he won't required any more proof for this but now his future is in real trouble with Chelsea and it seems that Roman won't give any more chances to Jose.

Riding @ 100 KMPH

2 weeks ago I had a visit to Baneshwar & Balaji Temple, around 40Km from Pune, on Pune - Satara National Highway 4 . We opt for new highway compared to old Katraj Ghat (Obviously due to the road conditions in Pune). The new NH 4 is excellent 4 lane track. No steep turns , only a strainght road & low volume of traffic. I thought I won't get any better chance to test my bike's at top speed, so I put it on the fire & catch the 100 KMPH, really an awesome experience, things were passing back too quickly. Very less chance for any error, otherwise It would have cost a lot for me. Unfortunately due to increasing traffic I couldn't able to move the speedometer above 100 KMPH, but I was happy with that.
Eventually after sometime I realised that after giving so much fun my bike has gulped a much more fuel than It should, but I was happy, I would like to cross some more milestones of my bike's speedometer in near future.

Hu Haa India ....

At last the pathetic performance of India Cricket Stars (?) ends with India’s exit from World Cup. They were defeated by Bangladesh & SriLanka. It was quite expected as the players were too busy with ads than practice before leaving for West Indies. All batsman of world’s strongest batting lineup failed against SriLanka.

Its high time now to restructure Indian cricket team.

Movie review : 300

After a long time I saw an historical block buster & fortunately it didn’t upset me. A good movie in all respect direction, acting, camera ,animation and obviously a good and real script. Depicted war of democratic kingdom (Sparta) v/s great barbarians(Iranian) . I think this movie has set a new height of violence , blood & cruelty but nowhere it looks dirty or odd. The courage, unity, great decision making ability & confidence on subordinates of Sparta king teaches a lot to us. It addresses some basic rules of a successful person such as always listen to your inner voice, always have a strong team with you .

At the end only one thing that disturbed me is the shadow of negativity . It depicted the Iranian king as cruel barbarian, if it’s true then where does the Alexander and East India company stands? Didn’t they did the same task to eastern world? They ruled and ruined east countries still they were respected as great but if someone from east side of world tries to do same he becomes a villain. Don’t you think there is need to change mentality of some people?

Well, I would suggest that definitely this movie deserves a second look.

Virtual Earth and Me

From last few weeks I am working on Virtual Earth SDK; something different than .NETCF on which I am working on from last 6 months.

Microsoft research has provided a very useful tool "MapCruncher". We used this tool to overlay a map on actual virtual earth map , a very good experience.

It is still in the research mode so I expecting a lot of improvement and API support from MapCruncher, currently it requires quite tedious tasks to cruch a map. Waiting for the next release of map cruncher. Apart from this project I am also working on a project that involves WPF & Virtual earth.

We were facing a lot of issues regarding deployement of ".xbap" on web; finally unexpectedly it work just by copying the published folder in intepub folder, didn't even required to host it.
